Maison des Guides du Verdon : canyoning

Canyoning is one of the flagship activities of the summer at the Maison des Guides. Practicable in summer, we are fortunate to have superb canyons accessible at all levels. Of course, we practice on "local" canyons but we also offer other canyons, mainly in the nearby Alpes-Maritimes. Our offer is very complete and is aimed at families as well as athletes, half-day or full day. Find the canyon that suits you best in the list below !

Bodan Baou :

Beginner canyon (tributary of the Verdon)

This nice little canyon is perfect to discover the activity with family or friends. An easy bucolic walk leads you to the dry canyon of Bodan. The guide will teach you the practice of abseiling to descend dry waterfalls (20m for the highest). Then we continue through the Baou canyon: aquatic and fun, there are jumps and slides in narrow gorges.

Families, young people, who can swim and want to discover the activity easily (abseils, jumps, slides ...) while having fun.
Children from 25 kg

Half-day, often with a snack break after the dry part.
Small approach walk without difficulty at the beginning and at the end (about 20 minutes).
Car shuttle required.

Bas Jabron :

Aquatic beginner canyon (tributary of the Verdon)

This easy and very fun canyon is a tributary of the Verdon located Trigance (about 30 minutes drive from La Palud).
Made of jumps, slides, swimming and a few parts in boulders, the rope will only be used to avoid the highest jump (5m in a magnificent basin) !
The water is emerald green and very clear, not cold, but unfortunately, it dries up fairly quickly ... Mostly to be discovered at the beginning of the summer season.

Families, young people, who know how to swim and want to enjoy an aquatic discovery of the activity.
Children from 25 kg.

Half-day (one and a half to two hours in the water), 5-minutes approach walk and 15-minutes return.

La Fernet (ou Ferné)

Advanced canyon in the heart of the Gorges du Verdon

After a 20mn approach walk, we enter a dry canyon, a vertical and impressive tributary of the Verdon. It will be necessary to abseil down to access the final 80m waterfall (3 abseils to descend it) which leads directly into the Verdon water!
This gives access to one of the secret parts of the canyon, no hiking path allows you to visit it, only a few experienced kayakers can do it.
The second part of the day consists of descending into whitewater within the gorges, letting yourself be carried by the current with jumps from large boulders (up to 10 m, always avoidable! ...) . The surroundings are sensational and magical!
A 45 minutes uphill walk will bring us back to the road.

This canyon requires good physical condition, being able to walk up mountain trails with a backpack, not being afraid of height and knowing how to swim.
Teenagers from 14 years old.

Full day, small car shuttle required.

SAINT AUBAN :

Very aquatic and sporty canyon for half a day

Jumps, parts of swimming in large pools, slides, the rope is sometimes necessary ... St Auban is the perfect summary of the activity in the aquatic environment.
The sections are linked one after the other, the flow is always important, the surroundings are impressive: this is one of the "must-do" of the activity for anyone who wants to spend a challenging moment in a top surrounding.

People in good shape, able to swim and comfortable in the water. The water is colder there than in other canyons, children are accepted with parents but they must weigh at least 40 kg and not be too sensitive to the cold.

Canyon located in the Alpes-Maritimes, an hour drive from La Palud.
A small car shuttle is necessary and 5 minutes return walk.

GOURS DU RAY :

Fun water canyon

The Loup river has dug the magnificent limestone strata of the Gours du Ray and offers us a descent into absolutely crystal clear water.
This canyon is for all those who wish to spend a pleasant moment in a haven of freshness and greenery.
The canyon consists of a few passages where the rope will be required but the main reason of your visit is the beauty of its limpid pools and its many jumps and slides.

Families, children from 30 kg and able to swim.

Half day (around 2 hours in the water).
Canyon located in the Alpes-Maritimes at 1h15 drive from La Palud.
5 min walk and 20 min return, no car shuttle required.
